Hello everyone!
I'm sorry to say that due to school's decisions, I'm going to leave this blog. I won't delete anything right now, but i don't think i'm going to post something here anymore.
The fact is that i had to open an account and a blog with Wordpress for a IT induction required by my course. It also became part of the assessment i had last Monday, so they want me to keep it as updated as possible, and not only with my works. I have to talk about other artists too, which bothers me just because i have to post something which is not mine. I don't mind suggest people some artists i find interesting, but i don't feel so ok in posting their art, even if i don't claim it as mine.
Dunno, Deviantart has probably changed me!

The good point of Wordpress is that you don't need to join the website to comment. If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, you can use it to leave comments, which is great, considering that pratically everyone has a Facebook account. Except me. Peace. I can actually survive without it and don't miss it that much.

So, if you could please keep following me here, i'd be very grateful! Really hope to see you there!

PS: I can't really understand why the chose Wordpress for an art blog platform. There were people from my group who were literally struggling because they weren't used to blogging. I was, but i still find Blogger easier to use, especially for beginners. Wordpress seems to have lots of things, but it's not really that better than Blogger. Oh well...c'est la vie!

Animation is addiction!

Currently working on something "bigger" than usual, and with "bigger" i mean something complex, like an animation. An animation, indeed, is exactely what i'm spending my late night hours on. It will be very crappy and rough, but i don't have the slightest idea of how to animate, and i'll have to wait at least 2 months before recieving the first "tips".
This week i'm stuck with 3D design, which happens to be too fussy for a one week project (student who choose this pathway have about three week for the same project..just to let you know..). Hence, my design has been considered quite original and crazy by the teacher, but the product would be totally useless, so i'm not satisfied with it. Why not doing something i like, then? Went to bed at 3 am last night cause i just couldn't stop! Nobody has every told me animation is addiction! XD

I've cutted out at least 3 frames but i just liked the first 5 frames' movement. It looks like someone is telling the dog: "Don't look!".

So yeah, I haven't posted here since, when? June?...Oh my!
Well, I'm happy to announce that i'm back. After the summer holiday I moved to England and started the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design Course. So far it has been challenging me, but i'm getting used to it; plus, i'm really enjoying it!
In the first nine weeks all student will try different artistic subjects, which will last one week each. During that time, we have to work on a "already planned" project, and get it completed by the end of the week (if not in class, during your spare time).
This week I've started with Fashion Design and it has turned to be everything but what I was expecting!
Since I'll probably have to create an art blog for the course, I've decided to tell you everything there (by the way, it's not really opened at the moment, but it will be so in few weeks, hopefully in few days). I still have to decide whether I'll keep this blog or not, but for the moment, it won't get deleted.
Ok, lets stop talking now, it's time to show something!

I wanted to turn this into a pixel drawing, but in the end, i liked how the sketches turned out (as always!) and decided to keep like this. The pose just came out of my mind and I can't really tell what is it suppose to be doing...

First page of my A5 Moleskine! I this at the seaside, with my best friend carefully staring at me while drawing this, pretending she was reading XD A new character of mine I'd like to use in an animation project. It is supposed to be a fennec fox.

Used a reference for this, but it's still not clear he's Tolkien. My best friend and I were trying to watch "The Lord of the Rings"on tv one night, but we had problems with the antenna, so we couldn't see it at all. Damn! We then decided to spend the night drawing characters from the movie, copying them from an article my father had found on a magazine. I decided I wanted to give Tolkien's picture a chance and i began to draw him. It's not so awful considering my skills in drawing humans.

I love looking at the window's glass when travelling, apart when it is night time and you see nothing but your reflection. On the train back from London, I put my sketchbook out and started doodling. The same weird horse of the previous post.

This is Oliver, a stray dog we found at the seaside and which has been my friend's, my brother's, my brother's friend's and my dog for nearly a day. More informations can be found here.

Sketch made with Stabilo coloured drawing pens. I tried a single line drawing at first, but I was doing a mess. Inspired by War Horse's trailer. I wanna see the play at London National theatre before watching the movie. i read the book and i just loved it. I can't believe it was meant to be a book for children.

Between tests and exams

My final high school exam is getting near (about 10 days left damn it), and i had my last school test four days ago. So, as you can see, drawing hasn't really been my priority, but since it has helped me relaxing before oral tests, i haven't stopped doing it at all. Due to time matters, i've only sketched someting (mainly during weekends). I will also post something that i had already done but never scanned.

Let's start from the only digital piece I've been able to do. It's a gift for Aniu Proserpina, a dear web friend.

I was watching Harry Potter and this came out. It must be full of anathomical errors, but I still have to improve in drawing human figures.

Skecth done in pen at school: I was very tired that day and couldn't pay attention to the Italian Literature's lesson.

Another horse, this time more stylized. I like the way the face came out. just the face though.

Guess what? A horse again! Done at school during a Science lessons. Hate dealing with stones!

Few concept of Sionnach, the main character of one of my projects for my University Portfolio. The fox was named recently and Sionnach means "fox" (yeah, i lack of creativity when it comes to name something) in Irish-Gaelic.

Well, this post won't contain any drawing but i wanted to take part to this nice initative.

According to Harvard's physicist Alexander Wissner-Gross a website produces on avarage 0.2 g of CO2 for each visit it recieves. So a website with millions of visits produces kilograms of CO2. Definitely, too many if we consider that factories and cars already do their worst to pollute our planet.

Now, if you're an ecologist you might feel a bit guilty, but DoveConviene has the solution you might looking for!

By planting new trees it will be able to soak your blog's emissions for about 50 years. Let's say your blog or website produces about 3.6 kg of CO2 per year, well, the tree DoveConviene's initiative will plant will soak 5 kg of it. That means your blog/website won't pollute at all!

I'm getting more and more satisfaction in painting this (also because school is letting me down), but the most difficoult part hasn't come yet! Still have to think about a worth background and avoid the blank snow effect. Marlowe, why did you decide to die in winter time! Damn you! XD

Projects for Uni's portfolio

Here you have a bunch of ideas i've discarded from my university portfolio.

1) The Night Guardian.
It has been my first idea, immediately after i came back from England last summer, i sat on my bed and started to drawing these few sketches:

Then i did a rough storyboard, just to try putting down some ideas.

2) The second project involves fruits, one in particular: a lonely banana. I've been mocked for this during a comic class >_< Well fuck! It wasn't so bad.

3) And then there's this shame i would hardly call projetc. I started doing few frames for the storyboard but then i left it because it didn't satisfy me.

4) At last, my final project: Eat Biologically. I'm not going to post the concept arts, but i will put the whole storyboad edited with Movie Maker.

I've spent the past months working on my university's portfolio but i didn't always come up with something worth to be judged, so here you have all the works i parted.

Gabriel

Here comes another character of mine, i've recently created. His name's Gabriel, a Chinook dog, one of Marlowe's best friends. He appears in the first part of the story i wrote (see the post related with Marlowe).

So, few lines to introduce him: he's quite shy but obedient and always do what he's told, even if this means letting your best friend go through death. He's quite young and has been trained by Marlowe to become a sentinel and watch over the pack.

This is basically how i wanted him to be like:

As you can see he's a smal, fluffy and cute dog. He might seem coward but he has a kind heart.

Julie

I'm very productive in these days: a new design for Marlowe, the first part of his story, the concept of Gabriel and this one.

So, this little rat here (i'm jocking!) is Julie, my little pet chipmunk..more chipmunk than pet by the way.

She's been recently ill, due to some lungs' problems and a broken leg. She's now fine: she moves properly and...keeps sleeping XD I wish i could do it to, instead of going to school!

EDIT: It's with tears in my eyes that i add that Julie has recently passed away. This was the only piece i've made of her, but it rapresent all the love i gave her in these 5 years. I will miss you dear.

Marlowe

Here comes the evolution of this character i've created not long time ago. It's Isaac's eldest brother so he's a wolfdog too.

This was the first sketch i made on Iscribble, and he has changed a lot since then!

Then came this picture (please forgive the anathomical errors!). Marlowe's doom is to die in a battle with another wolves' pack, due to protect his own pack and family.

Two sketches i did just to practise drawing him.

I like the pose of this one....but not the face

Some faccial expressions made with Paint Tool Sai. He's always sad and angry because i was thinking about his doom.

The last, but not the least, my final concept of him. I changed his design a bit cause there used to be too much ligh grey. Ignore the background, it was made to experiment the new brushes i'd downloaded.

I'd like to start writing his story (and maybe transorm it into a comic) when i'm done with the university application stuff.

What i've been doing in the past 2 centuries

Yeah, i know it has been a while since my last post, but i haven't been able to find so much time to draw. School has been my priority and this mean late. Yeah, late, because i have nothing to put in that bloody portfolio i have to send along with my application letter to Farnham's U.C.A (University for the Creative Arts). I have nothing ready at the moment and when i start to think about a nice story to develop i get crazy with something else. I've also started a comic course because i knew that the teacher had worked as a storyboard artist, so i took the chance to ask him something. He has been useful, but sometimes i cannot bare his suggestions: they are too professional and he often suggests me to be simpler and simpler in drawing my character. The last time, he has come with a photocopy of some Looney Toon's characters and wanted my own one (an opossum) to be drawn in that style. I was a bit frustrated because that was not my intention. I wanted to show my skills and originality, not copying anyone else's ideas.
I got mad in drawing the opossum standing on his hind legs and move it. The teacher told me not to think about him but to hurry because i was wasting my time. O_O I'm seriously thinking about jumping his lesson next friday, because i've realised i'm not productive at all in his two hours: i easyly get crazy and one of my classmates keeps on distracting me. I feel under pressure, that's all.
Oh well...Anyway, i came here to post my "recent" works so here they come:

A fox dancing while listening to an mp3. I know there're some anatomical errors but i liked how it tourned out.

Trying to improve my semi-realistic style. i don't like the right eye at all.

Japaneese brush doodles

I particularly like how the killer mole tourned out. The cannibal horse is inspired by a Droema's character (Metuo).

Aniu Proserpina's Balto

It's incredible: two posts in two days! So, here you have another speed painting of Balto, Aniu Proserpina's new Siberian Husky. He has been abandoned and rescued, but he's still in bad health's condition. She's now adopted him, and she's taking care of him, and i'm just glad this dog has found someone who will really love him. Aniu, i didn't miss the bandana, i just had problems drawing it XD. If everything will work fine, maybe Balto will be a furry ball like in this picture ^^

I'd just like to add: "Keep holding on Boy!".

September sketches

Few sketches i did when i came back from my summer holiday. I did the first one while listening to "Almost Alice", a special cd a veeery special friend brought me recently from New York. It's Lewis Carrol's Cheshire Cat from the book Alice in Wonderland. The second is just a unicorn, while the third is something which is supposed to look like Jack Sparrow. No offence to Johnny Deep meant!

Yay i'm back from holidays!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, you're right. I should be sader, and in fact i am, also because school is strating in a week, and i will have to face (and pass, damn it!) my last year of high school. Honestly, i can wait to go to university, so i will not hear the word "math" anymore.

But let's talk about this picture. It's a quick digital sketch/paint of Barbaro, a racing horse who made an entire nation cry. He had a painful accident during a famouse race (Preakness Stakes, one of the Kentucky Derby's tracks) and broke his ankle. After reading Carambola's most amazing short story, i dedicided to take a pencil and sketch its character. Hope to add more. The colour isn't perfect because they're just sketches. So, here you have Gloria the Malamute, Alphonse the mad Canadian Eskimo(mad hatter version XD) and Isaac the wolfdog (also my alter ego).

Comic course results!

I've attended a weekly comic course: nothing serious but i'm learning a lot about drawing tecniques and illustration (even something about animation!). Obviously i did some sketches.

Some Disney's characters i had to copy. They're Prince John from Robin Hood, the Tramp from Lady and the Tramp and then a rabbit from Bambi. The little dog was a creation of mine.

An illustration i had to draw. It's purpouse was to invite more students to the school's library.
The message says "Give a pair of wings to your imagination".
Not really drawn during the course but i wanted to put it anyway. Here are some concepts of Isaac and Marlowe, his older brother.

Here comes the awfulest of all. Ladies and gentlemen, humans! Naked humans...with no faces...don't worry i would never show you something like that XD

Will i ever finish...?

I know it doesn't seem but i still draw and, what's more important, i'm still alive!
So, i started this during my last easter holiday and i was wondering "Will i ever finish this?". I'd really like to but there's a kind of maledition in posting my w.i.p.s. Every time i post one i surely never finish the work. Why? I'd like to know it too!

Dunno why but i wanted to draw something realistic and my attention was caught by "The Chronicles of Narnia" book. The background sucks though.
Hope to come back soon with other sketches. I draw a lot but i'm too lazy to scan them.

Yep, i'm here again to show some old stuff of mine. Most of these were later coloured/edited/modified/ whatever you want, but i like how they used to be. I've added some colour with Gimp in order to make them look like professional sketches. I'm totally crazy for those kind of things XD. The horse was copied from a Spirit's screenshot, but i recognise i've used Ken Hultgren's style or...kinda...
Please, forgive all the blank space around the sketches but i engaged an hard battle with my pc to show you these.

Just few sketches to fill this empty blog. These are not so recent but i like them. This blog will pratically be a space where i'll post sketches or drawings that will never appear in the light of a decent gallery.

So, this wolfdog-guy at the bottom is supposed to be my alter ego, Isaac, while the one on the right is just a nice stray i did on I-scribble.
